      The original volume contained a table of contents but no index. In the Wayne County HIstorian's Office prepared an index to the names of persons mentioned in the book. This index was computer-scanned to allow posting on the Wayne County GenWeb. The original index, in double-column format, has been converted to single column format. Lists of surnames organized by letter, ethnicity and more.

      In columns 5 and 6, a separate "reverse" index, that is, by Grantee (to) and Grantor (from) surnames and first names, then deed book letter or number and the page in the book in the last 2 columns. The original index books are separated into 26 sections, A-Z, by the first letter of the Grantor surname (or Grantee surname in column 5).
